For Reflection and Preparation
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2
When I first took upon me the defense of the gospel, I remember that Dr. Staupitius, a worthy man and vicar of the Augustinian order, said to me: “This doctrine which you preach gives glory unto God alone, and nothing unto man; unto God there cannot be attributed too much glory, goodness and mercy.” His words did greatly comfort and confirm me. And true it is that the doctrine of the gospel takes from men all glory, wisdom, righteousness, etc., and gives the same unto the Creator alone, who made all things of nothing. We may more safely attribute too much to God than to man, and my doctrine is such that it sets forth and preaches the grace and glory of God alone, and in the matter of justification, and salvation, it condemns the righteousness and wisdom of all men. In this I cannot offend, because I give both to God and man that which properly belongs to them both. Martin Luther, Galatians p.56

Assurance of God’s Grace Titus 3:4-7
But when the goodness and lovingkindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Confessing Our Faith The Apostles’ Creed
I Believe in God the Father, Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
Born of the virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead, and buried:
He descended into hell;
The third day He arose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I Believe in the Holy Spirit;
The holy catholic church;
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body;
And the life everlasting. Amen.
